TAX ASSESSMENTS:

NOTE: THE TOWNSHIP DOES NOT ACCEPT CREDIT OR DEBIT CARDS

The Michigan State Legislature has approved a shift of the County taxes that were collected in December of each Year. That shift was completed in the tax year of 2007. Now 100% of the Kalamazoo County operating millage will be collected each summer with the remaining Kalamazoo County Safety millage collected on each winter tax bill.

SUMMER TAXES:

Payable July 1, 2016 thru September 14, 2016 without penalty or interest. From September 15 thru September 30 a 1% interest charge will be added by the township. An additional 1% per month will be added by the township to the unpaid balance on the 1st of each month thereafter through February 14th, 2017. Between February 15th and February 28 an additional 3% penalty will be added. On March 1, 2017 and there after additional charges will be added by Kalamazoo County as stated below under Winter Taxes. Checks are payable to: Pavilion Township, 7510 East Q. Ave., Scotts, MI 49088

DEFERMENT OF SUMMER TAXES:

The law provides that beginning September 15, 2016 1% interest be added to the tax bill each month or portion of a month. However, taxes may be deferred without penalty until February 14, 2017, if the taxpaying property owner is 62 years or older, or totally and permanently disabled and has a household income of $40,000 or less per year. Applications for deferment are available through the township Treasurer's office and returned to that office by September 14, 2016.

ESCROW ACCOUNTS:

Please check to see if your tax bill is coded with a mortgage company number. If you have an escrow account, and this tax bill is coded with a number and a "Bank Name" your mortgage company has requested a copy of your tax bill, and one has been provided to them. If there is no number in that box, a copy of the bill has not been sent to your mortgage company. Therefore, you should enclose one copy of this tax bill with your next mortgage payment.

WINTER TAXES:

Payable December 1, 2016 through February 14, 2017 without penalty or interest. A 3% penalty will be added if taxes are paid between February 15, 2017 thru February 28, 2017. Checks are payable to Pavilion Township, 7510 East Q. Ave., Scotts, MI 49088.

Beginning March 1, 2017, all real property taxes are delinquent and must be paid to: Kalamazoo County Treasurer, 201 W. Kalamazoo Ave., Kalamazoo MI 49007. NOTE: Please submit separate checks when paying Summer and Winter taxes together.

NON- SUFFICIENT FUND CHECKS:

Checks are accepted as conditional payment of taxes. If a check is not honored by your bank, the property tax will be considered unpaid, and will be placed back on the tax roll. A service charge will be applied for returned checks.

FAILURE TO RECEIVE TAX NOTICES:

Failure to send or receive such notice shall not in any way prejudice the right to collect or enforce the payment of any tax.

STATEMENT OF RIGHT TO APPEAL NON-PRINCIPAL RESIDENT ONLY:

You have the right to appear at the July and/or December Boards of Review for Principal Resident and Agricultural Exemptions.

DOG LICENSES:

Available December 1, 2016 thru February 28, 2017. Bring rabies vaccination and sterilization papers.
NOTE:
If the statement "Summer Taxes Owing" is on your Winter Tax Bill, it's an indication that your Summer Taxes are delinquent. Therefore, penalties and interest have been added. You should contact Pavilion Township Treasurer, Robyn Froberg at (269) 327-0462 for the actual amount due on your Summer Tax Bill. Separate checks are required when paying your Summer and Winter Taxes.
